Matrix
Matrix is an open chat network with many servers; the best-known app is Element. With the Matrix node, a bot account of your own writes every alert into a room, for example for your community. Matrix comes with the Community plan; each room counts against the 20 targets, like a Telegram group.
Why an account of your own? Bellchain writes into the room on your behalf. A shared Bellchain bot could send only about one message every five seconds on matrix.org, for all customers together. With your own bot account, only your own allowance counts.
Setting it up
Section titled “Setting it up”-
Create a bot account: register a second account on your homeserver, such as
bellchain-boton matrix.org via app.element.io, with username and password (not via “Continue with Google”). -
Invite it to the room: with your own account, invite the bot account to the room, such as
@bellchain-bot:matrix.org. You do not have to accept anything: on the first alert or test, the bot account joins by itself. -
Get an access token: sign the bot account in once in a terminal. For matrix.org:
Terminal window curl -s -X POST https://matrix-client.matrix.org/_matrix/client/v3/login \-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \-d '{"type":"m.login.password","identifier":{"type":"m.id.user","user":"bellchain-bot"},"password":"YOUR-PASSWORD","initial_device_display_name":"Bellchain"}'The answer contains
"access_token": "…". Copy the value without the quotes. For a server of your own, use its address instead ofmatrix-client.matrix.org. -
Drag the Matrix node onto the board in the editor and enter Homeserver (such as
https://matrix.org), Access token and Room: the address such as#alerts:matrix.orgor the ID starting with!(in Element under Room settings → Advanced). -
Click Send test in the properties. Once the message arrives in the room, connect the node to your condition.
Do not use the token from Element’s settings: on servers with the new sign-in (such as matrix.org) it expires after a few minutes. The token from step 3 stays valid until you sign out the bot account’s “Bellchain” session. Anyone who knows it can write as the bot; it stays empty when you export a chain.
What appears in the room
Section titled “What appears in the room”- Header with 🔔 and the chain’s name, below it your message as a quote, the values at trigger time and pair, timeframe with “close” and time in your time zone.
- No mentions:
@roomand names in the message ping nobody. - Notify: under the advanced settings you choose Silent; the alert then comes as a notice (
m.notice) that Element shows without sound. - Scanner: if several coins of a scanner trigger on the same candle, one message lists them all.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Encrypted rooms: Bellchain sends unencrypted. In an encrypted room the message still arrives, and Element marks it as not encrypted. For rooms just for alerts, turn encryption off when creating them.
- Pace: Synapse servers such as matrix.org let an account send only about one message every five seconds after ten quick ones. Bellchain then waits and tries again.
- The homeserver must be reachable from the internet via https.
