Supertrend

- High
- Low
10 candles · factor 3
- Supertrend
- up
- down
Trend line that flips when the trend turns. Trails a line behind the price at the distance of its usual swings: below it in an uptrend, above it in a downtrend. The line only moves in the direction of the trend. When the price closes on its other side, the trend turns and the line jumps to the other side. Many use it as a trailing stop. Example: “Price crosses above Supertrend 10 · 3” fires when the trend turns up. The “up” and “down” signals are true as long as the trend points that way.
What it looks like
Section titled “What it looks like”- Price (close of each candle)
- line in an uptrend
- line in a downtrend
- price crosses above
Settings
Section titled “Settings”The settings appear on the right under “Properties” once you click the node on the board. Below each field you find the same explanation as here.
ATR candles
Section titled “ATR candles”How many candles the usual range (ATR) is measured over, which sets the distance of the line. 10 is the usual value.
Factor
Section titled “Factor”How far the line sits from the price, as a multiple of the ATR. With 3 the trend only turns on a clear counter move. Smaller values like 2 report turns earlier, but also more often wrongly.
Example
Section titled “Example”Notifies you when the price crosses above the Supertrend, so the trend turns up.
How to connect the nodes:
- Candle (Price) → Supertrend (Price)
- Candle (High) → Supertrend (High)
- Candle (Low) → Supertrend (Low)
- Candle (Price) → Compare A/B (A)
- Supertrend (Supertrend) → Compare A/B (B)
- Compare A/B (true/false) → Push (Trigger)
On the board it reads: 10 candles · factor 3

Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- In messages the value is called “Supertrend 10 · 3”.
- Warm-up with the default settings: 200 candles (this many extra candles are loaded by the replay before the value is reliable).

Technical details
Section titled “Technical details”Bands (high + low) / 2 ± factor × ATR that only trail in the direction of the trend until the previous close breaks them; the direction turns when the close crosses the active band; the same formula as ta.supertrend in TradingView.
