Event
30 min before CPI and Fed
- before the event
- now
- after the event
- around the event
- Minutes to the event
Signals before and after events like CPI. Knows the events that move prices: rate decisions of the Fed and other central banks, US inflation and jobs data, plus crypto events such as options expiry. It signals before the event, at the event (“now”) and after it. That gives you a reminder (“before the event” into Telegram), a reaction (“after the event” and AND with a price drop) or a filter: “around the event”, NOT in front and then AND with your signal mutes other alerts during that time. “Minutes to the event” fits into a message. In the replay it uses the events of the past.

Events
Section titled “Events”Which events the node reports. Groups such as “CPI and Fed” combine several; the “Events” page shows which events exist and how important they are.
- All events: Every event on the “Events” page, economic and crypto.
- All economic events: Central banks and official data, without the crypto events.
- All crypto events: Options expiry and the weekend close and open of the futures.
- CPI and Fed (default): The two events that move crypto most: US inflation and the Fed rate decision.
- Everything from the Fed: Rate decision, minutes, testimony and Jackson Hole.
- Rate decisions (Fed, ECB, BoJ, BoE): The rate decisions of the four major central banks.
- Inflation (CPI, PCE, PPI, euro area): All price data: US consumer and producer prices plus euro area inflation.
- US labour market (NFP, JOLTS, ADP, claims): Jobs report, job openings, ADP employment and the weekly jobless claims.
- Fed rate decision: The US central bank sets its policy rate; half an hour later its chair speaks to the press.
- US inflation (CPI): US consumer prices of the previous month; they shape expectations for Fed rates.
- US jobs report (NFP): New jobs and the unemployment rate in the US, usually on the first Friday of the month.
- US inflation (PCE): The price measure the Fed targets, with household income and spending.
- US producer prices (PPI): Prices US producers charge, often a lead for consumer prices.
- US GDP: Growth of the US economy in the quarter; the advance estimate matters most, later estimates less.
- US retail sales: Sales of US stores, a gauge of consumer demand.
- US manufacturing (ISM): Survey of US factory purchasing managers on the first business day of the month; above 50 means growth.
- US services (ISM): The same survey for services, two business days after manufacturing.
- US job openings (JOLTS): Open positions in the US, a look at how tight the labour market is.
- US ADP employment: Private-sector job growth from the payroll firm ADP, two days before the jobs report.
- US initial jobless claims: New unemployment claims in the US, every Thursday.
- US consumer sentiment: University of Michigan survey, with households’ inflation expectations.
- Fed minutes: The minutes of the last meeting, three weeks after the rate decision.
- Fed chair testimony: The Fed chair’s semiannual testimony on monetary policy.
- Jackson Hole symposium: Annual meeting of central bankers in August; the Fed chair’s speech often sets the tone.
- ECB rate decision: The European Central Bank sets interest rates for the euro area.
- Bank of Japan rate decision: The Bank of Japan sets rates, usually around noon in Tokyo; rising Japanese rates have moved crypto sharply before.
- Bank of England rate decision: The Bank of England sets UK interest rates.
- Euro area inflation: Flash estimate of euro area consumer prices, the basis for the ECB.
- Options expiry: On the last Friday of the month at 08:00 UTC most options on bitcoin and ether expire, especially many at the end of a quarter.
- Futures: weekly close: Regulated bitcoin futures in the US close on Fridays at 4 PM Chicago time, earlier before holidays; until Sunday only crypto keeps trading.
- Futures: weekly open: The futures reopen on Sundays at 5 PM Chicago time. If the price is far from Friday’s close, a gap opens that many traders watch.
Importance
Section titled “Importance”Only events of at least this importance, in three levels as on the “Events” page. “very important only” keeps, for example, only quarter-end options expiries.
- all (default): Every event of the selection.
- important and up: Without the less important ones, such as the weekly jobless claims.
- very important only: Only events of the top level, such as CPI, the Fed and the jobs report.
Minutes before
Section titled “Minutes before”How long before the event “before the event” is true. 30 means: the reminder arrives half an hour ahead. With longer candles it comes on the last candle that closes that early, so with 1-hour candles up to an hour earlier.
Minutes after
Section titled “Minutes after”How long after the event “after the event” is true. 60 fits “in the hour after CPI”. For a filter that mutes alerts around the event, 30 is often enough.
Example
Section titled “Example”A reminder 30 minutes before US inflation data and the Fed rate decision, with the name and time of the event and the BTC price from the 15-minute candle.

Technical details
Section titled “Technical details”“before the event” is true on candles that close before the event and whose next candle closes after the event minus “minutes before”; the first one is therefore the last candle that closes at least that many minutes ahead. “now” is true on the candle the event falls into (open < event ≤ close), “after the event” on candles that close after the event and open before the event plus “minutes after”. “Minutes to the event” counts from the candle close to the next event that is not earlier. Economic events come daily from financecalendar.com, crypto events are computed by Bellchain.
